Education and Research
My path to becoming a specialist in female autism includes a B.A. in English Literature and History, an M.A. in Rhetoric and Composition, an M.A. in Clinical Counseling, and a research Ph.D in cognitive linguistics. This foundation in understanding language, meaning, and human experience informs every aspect of my therapeutic approach. I am also an ASDI Autism Informed Professional, and am one of the co-developers and researchers of the WRADIANCE© instrument and protocol for autistic assessment in women.
Clinical Approach
As an autistic woman myself, I bring lived experience to this work that goes beyond clinical training. I understand the exhaustion of masking, the relief of finally having words for your experience, and the complex journey of rebuilding your identity with accurate self-knowledge. This personal connection, combined with my clinical expertise, creates a therapeutic space where you can be fully seen and understood.
Horses and Equitherapy
My lifelong relationship with horses, beginning at age 12 with training, riding, and groundwork, adds another dimension to my practice. Horses offer something unique in therapy: they respond to authentic communication and genuine presence, making them powerful partners in healing. Through equine-assisted work, clients often discover new ways of being in a relationship that honors their true selves. I am an Arenas for Change (ARCH) Certified Professional, which acknowledges my specialized training and experience with horses and provides membership in the ARCH certified community of practice.
Counseling Theory
My approach to counseling integrates Existential therapy, literary symbolism, Husserlian phenomenology, and critical discourse analysis to help clients move from confusion to clarity, from shame to self-compassion, and from isolation to authentic connection. I’m passionate about providing the specialized care that you deserve — care that recognizes your strengths while supporting your challenges, and honors the brilliant mind you’ve always had.
